Department Student Receives Outstanding Dissertation Award from the University of Houston,
Demonstrating International Research Excellence
Mr. Yun-Hsien Lin, a graduate of the Department’s Class of C105 undergraduate program at KMUC, conducted undergraduate research projects under the supervision of Prof. Tsai-Hui Duh and Prof. Chien-Hung Li during his studies, establishing a strong foundation in scientific research. After graduation, he pursued his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Houston in the United States in 2021 under the mentorship of Professor Ognjen Miljanić, a renowned scholar in the fields of supramolecular chemistry and functional materials. He successfully earned his doctoral degree in Spring 2026.

During his doctoral studies, Mr. Lin demonstrated outstanding research performance and published several research articles and review papers as first author in leading international chemistry journals, including the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and Chemical Science. His achievements highlight his exceptional research capabilities and international academic competitiveness, receiving strong recognition from the global scientific community.
In recognition of his remarkable doctoral research accomplishments, Mr. Lin was awarded the Dan E. Wells Outstanding Dissertation Award by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Houston upon graduation. This prestigious award honors graduating doctoral students with the most outstanding dissertation research achievements and reflects the significant academic impact of his work. The award also demonstrates the excellent research potential and international competitiveness of students from our Department.
