在室溫下即呈現液體狀的鹽類稱為室溫離子液體,這是一種相當奇特的溶劑系統。此一溶劑由於不具揮發性,因此不具可燃性,相較傳統有機溶劑而言,在操作上受限較少且更為安全。我們利用此一特殊的溶劑系統為電解質,以研究各類物種在離子液體內的電化學行為並用於製作特殊的電極材料或奈米材料以應用於電化學分析。此外,我們亦利用此一不具揮發性的溶劑於回收重金屬離子或去除有機化合物的研究上,期望對綠色化學有所貢獻。本實驗室亦致力於製作奈米結構電極以應用於電化學或電化學-光譜分析。

(Room-temperature ionic liquids are salts with melting points at room temperature. They are very unique solvents. They are nonflammable because they are not volatile. Compared with the traditional volatile organic compounds, ionic liquids are safer solvents. We take advantages of room temperature ionic liquids as electrolytes for the electrochemical study of various electroactive species and for the preparation of special electrode materials and nano-materials, which will be used for electrochemical analysis. In addition, we use these nonvolatile solvents for removing heavy metal ions or hazardous organic chemicals in order to provide some contributions to green chemistry. We also devote ourselves in the fabrication of nanostructured electrodes for electrochemical or spectroelectrochemical analysis.)
