Indonesian Student Community at Kaohsiung Medical University (ISC-KMU)!
As this wonderful news reached the department, all faculty and students extended their enthusiastic congratulations. This achievement once again highlights the outstanding success of the Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry in cultivating international leadership talent.
The Indonesian Student Community (ISC-KMU) is a highly cohesive and influential international student organization on campus. It aims to assist Indonesian students in adapting to life in Taiwan, promote cultural exchange between Taiwan and Indonesia, and serve as a vital bridge of communication between the university and international students.
In recent years, the KMU Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry has actively promoted internationalization and curriculum reform. Significant milestones have been achieved in both the international layout of the undergraduate English-Medium Instruction (EMI) track and the global recruitment for the graduate program.
The total number of enrolled international students in our department ranks among the top across all university departments. Furthermore, the students' nationalities demonstrate a high degree of diversity, spanning countries such as Indonesia, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Malaysia. This gathering of diverse nationalities transforms the department's laboratories and classrooms into a miniature global society, sparking unique intellectual insights during daily academic discussions.
Upholding an open and inclusive educational philosophy, the Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry strongly encourages and fully supports international students to step outside the laboratory and actively participate in various academic and cultural exchange activities both on and off-campus.
Professor Wei-Yu Lin, Chair of the Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry, emphasized that international students are not only a vital driving force in KMU’s research teams but also a core strength in the university’s mission to drive internationalization and practice sustainable development and multicultural integration.
Looking ahead, the department will continuously enhance its teaching environment, optimize the quality of EMI courses, and provide a more comprehensive support system for international students. We look forward to attracting more outstanding young scholars from around the globe to gather at KMU, working together to pioneer new frontiers in scientific research with a global perspective.
